FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOCl: General
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a natural biocide that our bodies produce to fight bacteria and germs! It is produced by neutrophils, a type of white blood cell when they travel to the site of the wound to destroy invasive organisms. HOCl targets several crucial intracellular components of the pathogens, such as proteins that produce energy and are involved in DNA and protein synthesis. HOCl is a powerful antimicrobial substance yet non-toxic to human and animals.

Strong acid and strong base are corrosive. All Blue Science Technologies HOCl-based products are slightly acidic with a pH of 5.5-6.5, which is close to the pH of the skin. Blue Science Technologies products are non-flammable and are certified toxic-free, made-safe, cruelty-free, and vegan-friendly!

HOCL has been around for approx. 200 years and was developed by Michael Faraday (1830). HOCl was used to irrigate wounds in WW1.

While being a far superior sanitiser and steriliser, the main issues were:

– Concentrations were inconsistent

– The HOCl solution was not stable

– HOCL was expensive to make

Blue Science Technologies have circumvented these issues with our patented ECA machine to produce a long-life HOCL solution that retains consistency and potency.

The other reason why it is still rather unknown locally was due to a lack of awareness and preference for alcohol and bleach in lieu of alternatives.

HOCL is more effective at eliminating bacteria, fungi and viruses due to its faster activation time and stays active for up to 4x longer when applied to skin or surface, and eliminates a broader range of harmful microorganisms than alcohol and bleach.

Blue Science Technologies uses a special patented two-part electrolysis cell to separate and purify salt and water. The result is a high potency hypochlorous acid (HOCl) with a long shelf life.

200 ppm Hand Sanitiser

Blue Science Technologies Hand Sanitiser contains hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a natural biocide that our bodies produce to fight bacteria and germs. It eliminates 99.9% of bacteria in just seconds!

Unlike alcohol which causes irritation to the skin, HOCl is gentle on the skin and it is microbiome-friendly, which removes “bad” pathogens whilst ignoring the “good” guys, the normal microbiota.

All Blue Science Technologies HOCl-based products are slightly acidic with a pH of 5.5-6.5, which is close to the pH of the skin. HOCl does not cause irritation to the eyes and skin. It is ideally used in healthcare for wound cleansing, eye drops, and patient room disinfection.

Utilised in dermatology for fighting acne and skin infections and soothing chronic skin conditions. Blue Science Technologies products are certified toxic-free, made-safe, cruelty-free, and vegan-friendly!

The alcohol-based sanitiser is effective only when it contains more than 70% of alcohol. It results in skin irritation, strong odour and safety concerns. Alcohol is highly flammable and explosive. If it is left around children unsupervised, there can be irreparable consequences.

Blue Science Technologies Hand Sanitiser is made from natural ingredients. It does not carry the corrosive qualities of alcohol or bleach and the pH level is close to the pH level of the skin, making it safer for you, children, animals, and the environment.

It is absolutely safe. The ingredients are perfectly safe for human contact, including when used on surfaces, hands, faces and mouths. There are only 2 ingredients in our hand sanitiser: water and hypochlorous acid.

No, Blue Science Technologies Hand Sanitiser is not organic as it contains no organic matter and water is not organic.
